Some weeks test your legs. Some weeks test your lungs. And then there are weeks like this one when life throws a punch you didn’t see coming, and you’ve got to decide who you want to be when you hit the ground.

I was laid off this week. That’s a gut-check moment, no doubt. But instead of letting it break my rhythm, I leaned even harder into the one place that’s never let me down: the work. Training became my release valve, my reset button, and my reminder that I’m still moving forward literally and figuratively.

Cycling: A Big Jump Forward

This was my strongest riding week in a while, and it showed:

4 Rides | 50.83 miles

(Last week: 1 ride | 9.07 miles)

Total Time: 3:49:34

Average Speed: 13.2 mph

Elevation Gain: 2,959 ft

It wasn’t just the mileage it was the intentional effort. More climbs, more disciplined pacing, and more time in the saddle. Every ride felt like reclaiming ground… because honestly, it was.

Swimming: Consistent, Strong, and Improving

Three swims again this week—and this time, the numbers jumped:

9,950 yards (up from 8,125 yards last week)

Total Time: 4:12:22

Avg Pace: 1:34/100 yd (faster than last week’s 1:36)

Avg HR: 128 bpm

This is efficient swimming: faster pace, controlled heart rate, and more volume. That’s Ironman-level progress, not just maintenance.

Walking: Head-Clearing Miles

I got in one walk for 3.15 miles, and honestly, it might have been the most important workout of the week.

Time: 1:00:56

Avg Pace: 19:20/mi

Avg HR: 107 bpm

Sometimes you don’t need speed need space. This one did exactly that.

What This Week Really Meant

Training numbers are great, but this week wasn’t about stats. It was about resilience. About choosing movement over stagnation. About refusing to let a setback define the rest of the story.

I’ve always said fitness teaches you who you are. This week proved that again. I didn’t hide from the stress I put it on the bike, in the pool, and out on the road.

And I came out stronger.

Looking Ahead

Next week, I’m doubling down on consistency:

More structured Zone 2 rides

Continued swim volume building

Longer weekend sessions

And keeping my head in the right place, one workout at a time

Life may have changed this week but my direction hasn’t.

Onward. Resilient. Determined. Inspiring.

Not because you failed but because life decided you needed a new version of yourself.

This past week reminded me that strength isn’t found when things are smooth… It’s found when everything shifts and you refuse to quit.

I didn’t spend time asking “Why me?”

I spent time asking, “What now?”

And here’s what I learned:

Obstacles are just detours to higher ground.

Reinvention starts the moment you stop replaying what happened and start designing what’s next.

The same principles that drive excellent service delivery accountability, clarity, consistency are the same ones that build great people.

So this week, I rebuilt my mindset.

I tightened my goals.

I re-committed to becoming someone even my past self wouldn’t recognize.

If you’ve ever been hit with a curveball that forced you to re-evaluate, you already know the truth: the comeback is always stronger than the setback.

Your turn:

What’s one obstacle that forced you to grow in ways you didn’t expect?

Share it below; your story might be the spark someone else needs today.

When I was younger, I thought “behind bars” meant being trapped.

Now, it’s where I feel the most free.

The bars I’m talking about? Handlebars.

There’s something about throwing a leg over one of my bikes—whether it’s my fixie, single speed, or even my e-bike—that resets my mind. Some days, it’s gravel roads stretching 20 miles into the horizon. On other days, it’s rocky New Jersey trails where rattlesnakes bask in the sun, and you have to stay alert. Sometimes it’s weaving between trees, going just a little too fast, smiling like a kid again.

Each ride tells a different story:

Solitude rides remind me how important it is to clear the noise and listen to myself.

Group rides with friends remind me that miles fly by faster when you share the journey.

Climbs that burn my legs remind me that growth only comes with resistance.

It’s easy to forget the wonder that exists right in our own backyards until you slow down—or speed up—on two wheels.

This Labor Day weekend, I’ll be logging some miles and letting the road do its work. That’s my outlet.

What’s yours?

Whatever your reset looks like, I hope you find it this weekend. You’ve worked hard. You’ve earned it.

Thank you for your time, and have a Fantastic Friday.

This week, I’ve been thinking about the early stages of big goals. The kind that seem overwhelming at first glance — the ones that take months (or even years) of steady effort to reach.

For me, that goal is a full Ironman in September 2026 — 140.6 miles of swimming, biking, and running. I have all the tools, the plan, and the vision. Now it’s time to start.

When I look at the reality of 11 months of training, it can feel daunting. But here’s the truth:

The finish line won’t happen in one giant leap — it will happen in thousands of small wins.

It’s going to be about the 4:30 a.m. wake-ups, the workouts that fit into my day before work so I can still be present for my family, and the choice to keep moving forward on days when motivation isn’t high.

I’ll be tracking progress in two ways:

The tech side – using AI tools like ChatGPT to plan and analyze my training.

The old-school side – a big wall calendar where I can mark off each day and see both the micro progress and the big picture.

This approach isn’t just for endurance training — it’s exactly how we build strong customer relationships. Consistency is the bridge between the first conversation and long-term trust. The “finish line” with a client isn’t a single meeting or deal; it’s the accumulation of every small action, every follow-up, every delivered promise.

If you’ve been sitting on a big goal — personal or professional — here’s your sign:

Start.

Break it into small steps.

Stack the wins until the big picture takes shape.

The first step matters most. The rest will follow.

You need to get started. No matter how small that step is today.

What’s one small win you can commit to before the weekend is over?

Thank you for your time, and have a Fantastic Friday.

Welcome to another edition of Fantastic Friday, where we reflect on the week, seek out the growth in our struggles, and get ready to level up.

Let me take you back to two years ago.

A great co-worker roped me into RAGBRAI, a legendary bike ride across Iowa with over 30,000 riders. It is a rolling festival of endurance, sweat, and camaraderie. It’s a blast… and a grind.

But I didn’t just ride it; I rode it on a single-speed mountain bike.

One Gear.

Hundreds of miles.

No shortcuts.

Just long, hot days on two wheels with one choice: keep going.

I chose the challenge because I knew I could do it. And because there’s something powerful about committing to a goal that demands your full effort.

This summer, I’m heading back. But I’m facing a new decision.

Road Bike… or Single-Speed Again?

This time, I have options. I could ride a road bike with more gears, a smoother ride, and easier climbs, a wise choice.

But part of me wonders:

Would it still feel as fulfilling?

But I’m torn.

Do I take the smoother ride? Or rebuild my single-speed and test my resilience again?

I know I’ve got the mindset to finish.

I don’t know which route will help me grow the most.

A Question for You

Have you ever chosen the more challenging path not because you had to but because it made you better?

Would you go for a more leisurely ride?

Or chase the challenge, knowing it could change you?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

If this post got you thinking, help someone else have a Fantastic Friday:

Like it

Drop a comment

Thank you for your time, and have a Fantastic Friday.

This week, I learned a tough but necessary lesson: handling criticism and negativity without letting it define me.

Let’s be honest — criticism can sting. Whether it’s a passing comment or a full-on judgment, letting its negativity derail your mindset and momentum is easy. But what if we saw it differently? What if criticism wasn’t a stop sign but a signpost?

Here are three strategies I used this week (and that I hope you’ll try, too):

Pause Before Reacting Don’t swing back. Take a breath, give yourself space. Reacting emotionally might feel good at the moment, but responding with intention always wins in the long term.

Extract the Gold Even harsh feedback can contain a nugget of truth. Ask: Is there something I can learn here? Growth-minded people filter out the noise and focus on the lesson.

Reclaim Your Power Not all criticism deserves your energy. Sometimes, negativity says more about the other person than it does about you. Don’t hand your confidence over to someone who didn’t earn it.

Each time we rise above negativity, we grow stronger. We become more resilient. And that’s how we build a life worth being proud of — one decision, one reaction, one mindset shift at a time.

Your challenge for the week ahead: Try something three times:

1⃣ To get over the fear

2⃣ To learn how to do it

3⃣ To find out if it’s for you

Let your courage speak louder than the critics.

Thanks for your time — and have a Fantastic Friday

Standing in transition the day before my Ironman 70.3, I had never seen so many bikes in one place. The energy was electric—months of training, early mornings, and quiet sacrifices leading up to this moment.

And then… the storm came. Wind. Rain. It was a day that tested our physical strength and our resilience. But that’s the thing about endurance athletes—we don’t train for perfect conditions. We train for whatever the day throws at us.

We put in the work when no one is watching. We push forward when others stay inside. And when race day arrives, no matter the obstacles, we show up and give it everything we have.

No one said it would be easy—but that’s exactly why we do it.

Who else has faced a “storm” in their journey and kept going?

For those of you in the Northeast, you know it’s been a long, cold, and dark winter. The kind of winter that makes it hard to get up early, lace up your shoes, or push forward on the goals you set at the start of the year.

Just a few days ago, I rode my bike with some friends. None of us were particularly excited about it at first. The cold wind, the stiff legs, and the thought of just staying inside were tempting. But we all knew deep down—this is what we needed. Months had passed since our last ride, and something shifted as soon as we hit the trail. The conversations started flowing, the movement felt good, and by the end, we were all reminded why we show up—even when it’s hard.

Progress doesn’t always feel fast. Sometimes, you feel stuck, grinding with no visible results. But the key to staying motivated isn’t waiting for big breakthroughs—it’s showing up consistently, especially when you don’t feel like it.

Find your people – Motivation thrives in the right company. Surround yourself with those who push you forward.

Remember your ‘why’—Reconnect with the reason you started. Progress may be slow, but stopping will not get you there faster.

Take small wins seriously – Every step gets you closer, no matter how small. Keep stacking them.

So, if you’re feeling stuck, keep going. The progress you can’t see today is building the momentum you’ll feel tomorrow.

You have done a great job this week—celebrate your wins and have a Fantastic Friday!

Welcome to the first edition of Your Weekly Game Plan for Resilience, Growth, and Success!

This newsletter is more than words on a screen—it’s a place for action, progress, and momentum. My goal is to give you the motivation, mindset, and strategies to take control of your week, no matter what challenges you face.

Why Resilience, Growth, and Success?

Life is a game of persistence. Success isn’t about giant leaps—it’s built on small, consistent steps forward. In some weeks, progress will feel massive. Other times, it might feel like you’re barely moving. But here’s the truth: you’re winning as long as you keep going.

Resilience is what keeps you pushing when things don’t go as planned. Growth is the reward for stepping outside your comfort zone. Success is the sum of your efforts, showing up day after day.

I’ll share insights, lessons, and motivation weekly to help you stay focused and keep climbing. No matter where you are on your journey, there’s always another level waiting for you.

Your First Weekly Challenge: Progress Over Perfection

This week, I challenge you to focus on progress over perfection. Too often, we hold ourselves back, waiting for the “right” moment or perfect conditions. But the truth is, waiting gets you nowhere. Action—no matter how small—creates momentum.

Take the first step today if you’ve been putting off a goal.

If doubt creeps in, remember that success is built on imperfect action.

If you’re feeling stuck, move forward—even a little.

Your challenge: Take one small action today that moves you forward. Then, share it in the comments or with your network. Let’s inspire each other.

Let’s Build This Together

I want this newsletter to be a space where we learn, grow, and push each other to be better. So I encourage you to engage—comment, share your progress, and bring others into the conversation. Let’s build something great together.

Thank you for being here, and I look forward to growing alongside you. Have a Fantastic Day!

If you found this valuable, consider sharing it with your network. Let’s spread the message of resilience, growth, and success.
